FAQ’s

What vaccinations does my dog need to have BEFORE I drop off my dog?
BEFORE ENTERING The Red Ruff Inn, LLC, owners must provide proof of Distemper/Hepatitis(Adenovirus), Parvovirus/Parainfluenza, Rabies, and Bordetella. Your dog also needs to be parasite free, as evidenced by a negative fecal test within the last 12 months. Your pet’s veterinarian can email us a copy of these records to [email protected] subject line DOG NAME, YOUR LAST NAME (example Buddy Jones).
Is there a veterinarian on staff at the Red Ruff Inn, LLC?
We do not have a veterinarian on staff. However, it is policy to contact your dog’s regular veterinarian should the need arise. We will always try to contact you, then take the dog to their regular veterinarian. If it is an after-hours emergency, we will use the Animal Emergency Center. All veterinarian expenses are the responsibility of the pet owner.
Is a staff member at the kennel 24 hours per day?
No, the building is not staffed 24 hours per day. However, per Illinois Law, there is 24-hour surveillance for any risk of smoke, fire, flood or break in.
Is the facility heated and air conditioned?
Yes, the facility is heated in the winter and air conditioned in the summer to keep at a comfortable temperature.
Is my dog exercised?
Yes, your dog is exercised throughout the day. Dogs also have plenty of room in their outdoor individual space. Playtime can be on a one on one basis, or, depending on your dog’s temperament (with your written consent), playtime could be in a group setting with other socialized dogs. Group playtime is supervised constantly.
What supplies do I need to bring for my dog?
Please bring your dog’s familiar items from home (toys, treats, bedding and food). This alleviates stress on your dog and helps to make this a happy fun place to stay that is “just like home”.
What if my dog needs medication administered?
Please bring any medications that need to be administered during your dog’s stay. Each medication must be properly labeled with your dog’s name, and dosing instructions.
